New MOU for NCIAF and Canadian Food Focus

May 5, 2025

Canadian Food Focus is proud to announce a new partnership with National Circle for Indigenous Agriculture and Food (NCIAF) to promote Indigenous agricultural knowledge, food systems, and educational outreach across Canada.

This partnership, formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding, represents a shared commitment to create impactful, inclusive, and culturally respectful initiatives and elevate Indigenous voices within Canadian agriculture and food conversations.

NCIAF is a national Indigenous-led organization dedicated to advancing the interests of Indigenous Peoples in agriculture, food sovereignty, and sustainable food production. Canadian Food Focus is a national non-profit dedicated to sharing farmers’ stories and providing consumers with relatable information about Canadian food and agriculture.

Key objectives of the partnership are to develop and share multimedia content that highlights Indigenous food knowledge, agricultural practices, and community stories as well as to create educational materials and campaigns that foster understanding of Indigenous food systems and agricultural traditions.

“Through this partnership, we are ensuring Indigenous voices are recognized and respected in national conversations about agriculture and food,” said Kallie Wood, President and CEO of the NCIAF. “This collaboration with Canadian Food Focus allows us to highlight the rich food traditions and agricultural practices of Indigenous communities across the country.”

“We are excited to work with NCIAF to share and advance Indigenous voices and to engage consumers with stories of Indigenous Peoples’ deep understanding of food harvesting, farming, hunting, and fishing practices,” said Dorothy Long, Managing Director for Canadian Food Focus.

The MOU began April 15, 2025 and will remain in effect for three years.
