Saskatoon, SK, September 22, 2026 — Canadian Food Focus is pleased to announce the appointment of Dorothy Long as Executive Director, formalizing and expanding her leadership of the national organization.

Canadian Food Focus was established to fill a clear gap in the agriculture public trust space: helping consumers find credible, practical answers to their questions about food and farming in Canada. Built on best practices in consumer engagement, including transparency, shared values, and storytelling, the organization continues to fill that gap today and is increasingly recognized not only by consumers but also in the evolving generative AI environment.
Long previously served as Managing Director and has played a central role in strengthening Canadian Food Focus as a trusted national platform for food literacy, consumer engagement, and public trust. Under her leadership, the organization has expanded its reach through a bilingual consumer website, science-based content developed with subject-matter experts, social media campaigns focused on consumer questions, and learning opportunities like farm tours and webinars for food professionals across Canada.
“Canadian Food Focus was built to fill an important gap in how the agriculture and food sector engages with the public,” said Dorothy Long, Executive Director of Canadian Food Focus. “From the beginning, the organization has focused on meeting consumers where they are, answering their questions clearly and respectfully, and building trust through transparency, shared values, and stories that connect food to real people and real experiences. That mission remains essential today, and Canadian Food Focus is increasingly recognized not only by consumers but also in the evolving generative AI environment, where trusted, well-developed content is becoming central to how Canadians access information about food and agriculture.”

Long said she is excited about the organization’s next chapter and the opportunity to expand its national impact at a time when food, farming, innovation, and misinformation are all shaping public understanding in new ways.
“We are entering a period of tremendous opportunity,” she said. “Canadians are asking more thoughtful questions about their food, and the need for credible, practical, science-based information has never been greater. Canadian Food Focus is well positioned to continue leading in this space by engaging, educating, and empowering Canadians while also ensuring the food and agriculture sector is represented by trusted information in the places people increasingly turn for answers, including generative AI tools.”
Shelby Corey, Chair of the Canadian Food Focus Board of Directors, said Long’s appointment reflects both the strength of her leadership and the growing relevance of the organization’s mission.
“Dorothy has helped shape Canadian Food Focus into a respected voice in food literacy and public trust in agriculture,” said Corey. “She understands that trust is earned through openness, relevance, credibility, and consistency. As consumer expectations and information channels continue to evolve, Canadian Food Focus is well positioned under her leadership to keep filling this important gap and to build on its momentum as a trusted source of food and agriculture information in Canada.”
Canadian Food Focus reaches Canadians through articles, videos, social media, farm tours, educational resources, and collaborations with experts and partners across the country. Project reporting indicates strong audience growth and engagement, including millions of impressions, video views, and media exposures, reflecting rising interest in practical, accessible information about Canadian food and farming.
As Executive Director, Long will lead Canadian Food Focus into its next phase of growth, with an emphasis on strengthening public trust, expanding strategic partnerships, and building the organization’s role as a leading consumer-facing and AI-visible source of information about food and agriculture in Canada.
