Engaging Consumers’ Interest in Seasonal Eating

March 10, 2025

Canadian consumers are looking for more information on eating seasonally. After all, food that is in season is fresher, tastier and frequently more affordable than other out-of-season ingredients. Who better to connect with Canadian consumers than best-selling cookbook author, media commentator and award-winning food and travel writer Dan Clapson?

That is why Canadian Food Focus has partnered with Dan to develop a series of articles and videos showcasing seasonal tips and recipes from his cookbook Prairie (co-authored by Edmonton’s Twyla Campbell).

“Dan’s reels, articles and recipes not only offer solid guidance on embracing Canada’s diverse produce throughout our four distinct seasons but are also full of fun tips and tricks to make the most of seasonal ingredients.”

Dorothy Long, Managing Director of Canadian FoodFocus

Dan’s engaging reels, practical articles and delicious recipes share creative ideas that help Canadians make the most of seasonal ingredients. Through these seasonal insights, Dan inspires Canadians to connect with local agriculture and make the most of Canada’s diverse produce throughout the year. The videos are shared on several Canadian Food Focus social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok as well as through Dan’s social media network.

“It’s truly rewarding to partner with passionate food influencers like Dan Clapson, who share our mission to celebrate the richness of Canadian foods and foster greater food literacy among Canadians. Together, we build each other up, creating a stronger, more informed community that appreciates the value of the great food grown here!”

Dorothy Long, Managing Director of Canadian Food Focus
