Sharing Success Stories Of Indigenous Agriculture

September 4, 2025

The National Circle for Indigenous Agriculture and Food (NCIAF) is a national Indigenous-led organization dedicated to advancing the interests of Indigenous Peoples in agriculture, food sovereignty, and sustainable food production. Canadian Food Focus is very proud to have recently partnered with NCIAF to share three articles and videos of projects that showcase how Indigenous knowledge, traditional practices and modern agriculture can work together to build food security and resilience.

At the wo inina national conference in February 2025, NCIAF shared inspiring videos and presentations from several Indigenous-led agricultural projects across the country. Canadian Food Focus staff who attended wanted to share these stories through our consumer channels to help spread the word more widely about these inspiring successes for communities, agriculture and business.

Canadian Food Focus and NCIAF worked together to create three articles to showcase NCIAF-produced videos that follow a salmon farming and processing operation on the Kitasoo Xai’xais Nation in BC, a brewing company on Manitoulin Island, and a program to build youth ‘food warriors’ in Sioux Valley Dakota Nation in Manitoba.

These articles are posted on the Canadian Food Focus website, which receives over a hundred thousand visits each month and shared through CFF social channels, which has about 40,000 followers across several platforms.

The articles are the first of several joint initiatives as part of an MOU between NCIAF and Canadian Food Focus signed in May 2025.
